Oh crappo a whole few weeks have gone by and I've been so busy that I forgot all about this blog thingy.
What's been happening. Heaps! I found a second cousin in England and he has a whole website dedicated to the family history including some piccies of my granddad and great grandparents that I have never seen.
Family history is my "Winter Hobby" here in Australia and this year I've found heaps of stuff.
Anyway it's likely boring to those who are not related to me so here's just a picture of Grandad Kettlein his army gear WW1. He's on the left.
On other things - I have just done a class at Geelong with some very enthusiastic ladies doing the Goblin.
Lots of fun. Jan didn't want to make a goblin so she made this "old wanna be young" woman with heaps of makeup and bright orange hair. It was a scream. Will get piccies on here when I get them.
Have been in a swap for a wall doll on Dollies Down Under online doll club. Look out for some piccies in a future issue of Dolls Bears & Collectables magazine.
I have our Polymer Clay group meeting coming up soon and we are spending as couple of months making an "underwater scene" similar to the forest box but underwater. If anyone wants to join us please email to me and I'll let you know where and when. Cost is for clay used (very little) and you need to bring a box which you can get in Spotlight for $8. Also a cake or something foodie to share is a must. grin.

Hi Again,
found the camera and taken some pictures of the forest box we are doing for the retreat in July. Check my previous post for details.
Here tis:
As you can see there are a lot of different leaves, some fungi and a frog as well as a couple other bits and bobs. I'll be teaching how to make all these things plus some other forest floor stuff that wouldn't fit in the box - eg other toadstools, leaves, animals etc.

Only a bit of May left and time to get out the winter woollies. Boy was it cold this morning! grin
I've started organising the annual retreat at Bacchus Marsh. For those who have not heard of it, I organise a polymer clay retreat. The polymer clay weekend retreat "Polywaffle" is at the Lady Northcote Camp near Bacchus Marsh. It costs $160.00 which includes accommodation, meals, teaching fee and polymer clay. This year the weekend is 19th/20th July and we are doing a goblin doll, a butterfly brooch/necklace and a 3-d type "picture" with a "forest" theme. You bring your own tools and there is a cost for dolls eyes (which I have to find out the price on, but likely to be $12- $15) or you can bring your own. You also need to buy a "memories box" from Spotlight which cost $7.95. We generally have up to 16 people which means that you may have a room to yourself. Bathrooms are shared. The accommodation is fairly basic but clean and the meals are very good.
Here's the Goblin we are making.

I'll put up a picture of the forest box as soon as I can find the camera. I'm just starting the butterfly brooch which has faux cloisonne (glass enamel) on it so will have the pictures for that next week.
Oh and if you'd like to come, please email me: shirley.dougan@bigpond.com
I have 6 already so space for 10 more.

Well now that the Pic to Page Show is over for another year I am moving onto my other things.
Before I do, thanks to everybody who came to the show - I'm sure that we all enjoyed it very much - comments from many people lead me to believe so. The atmosphere was fantastic - lots of specials and great demonstrations.
Thanks for all the feedback and comments passed on to us at the door and afterwards.
Next year I will be planning to have class pictures up on a special website a couple of months before the event to make it easier for everybody who wants to do a class. Watch this space next February/March for info.
